Richard Rodgers Collection

In 1959, Richard Rodgers decided to transfer his personal collection of 78 rpm records of his own music to open-reel audio tapes. He asked Miles Kreuger to organize the records and send them out for dubbing to Mike Shoskes, then a distinguished recording engineer.

Mr. Rodgers also asked Kreuger to catalogue the 126 completed 7” tapes, and at the end of the project gave him the original 78 records. The Institute is now home to all of Rodgers’ records of songs by Rodgers and Hart, along with many acetates of radio programs on which he appeared.
